We can be your partner in an interview and are happy to fly your name with our sail.

Can Tres Hombres Shipping transport my product on a regular basis?

Yes, with both ships it is possible to transport cargo on a regular basis. The sailing schedules are made at least one year in advance, taking into account cargo possibilities, trainees and crew changes.

How are prices calculated?

Prices are based on the “ton/mile” unit. In addition to a base handling fee, we calculate how much cargo we are transporting (by weight or volume.) and how far your product must travel. (Nautical Miles). The fee schedule operates on a reduction by volume standard.

Do I have to arrange customs documents?

In principle, you have to handle all activities related to the required documents and customs clearings. Of course, we will be happy to have our representatives assist you.

Do I have to arrange insurance for my cargo?

You are responsible for the insurance of your cargo.

Why is Vanuatu the flag state of Tres Hombres and Nordlys?

Vanuatu is a  “flag of convenience”. This means that registering a merchant ship in a sovereign state is different from that of the ship’s owners, and flying that state’s civil ensign on the ship. The ship has to comply with minimum safety standards in construction, equipment and operation (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISPS, ISM etc.) Tres Hombres and Nordlys are registered under the flag of Vanuatu so that we can still sail and be insured without an engine and with wooden panelling under international class as a general working cargo ship.
